SCHOOL PROJECT, 2020
L8 Ning is a pen that teaches its user to hold the pen correctly when writing in order to avoid hand fatigue and pain by. It tells the user when is posture is wrong using a LED light that is in its body. It helps the user not to apply excessive pressure on the page as well as not to have too tight a grip on the pen, which are the two most common problems.
Studies have shown that tight grip and pressure on the paper go hand in hand, so fixing one will fix the other. As the pressure exerted on the page increases, the light emitted by the pen will be brighter. It then start to blink when passing the threshold of what is considered acceptable. Moreover, the wide grip makes it harder for the user to hold the pen too tightly.
The following images show sketches from the early stages of the process as well as some renders done during the exercise.
